May 2021 Newsletter

We are finally turning that COVID corner! Effective this Friday, almost all COVID-19 related restrictions will be lifted in Aspen and Snowmass with summer festivities getting underway including live music, outdoor movies, rodeos and favorite events such as the Aspen Food & Wine Classic and JAS Aspen Snowmass. There is nothing quite like summer in the Rockies! June, July and August are our most active selling months of the summer and we are expecting lots of guests and buyers with a heightened interest to purchase or rent.

It has been a record-breaking past 12 months for Aspen, Snowmass, Basalt, Carbondale and Glenwood Springs sales as shown below on the market reports. With continued demand for properties and low inventory, brokers are seeking additional properties to list, so if you are interested in selling your property, please contact me for an estimate of what your home might be worth in today’s market.

I am so excited for the warm and sunny months ahead and look forward to seeing you all in person this summer. If you are in town, please stop by my office and say hello or shoot me a text - I would love to catch up!

Best,

Laurie

Q1 2021 Market Report

2021 is off to an impressive start for Aspen Snowmass Sotheby's International Realty. While 2020 started off at a fairly normal pace, it was quickly shut down by COVID at the end of March. When comparing 2020 to 2021, we see the high demand for single family homes throughout the entire valley. Snowmass Village topped the charts in growth with an increase of 339% in total sales volume.

Q1 2021 Market Shares

Even with the downward trend of the Aspen Snowmass listing inventory, we continue to dominate our region in both the overall and luxury markets. In the first quarter of 2021 as well as for the past 20 years, we were able to assist more sellers and buyers with their real estate needs than any other brokerage firm in the Roaring Fork Valley. For the last three years, we have accomplished more than 2.5x the business of our #2 competitor and 2.9x more than our #3 competitor.

Roaring Fork School District's plan to get students back on track

Technology came in handy when in-person classes were not being held or students had to quarantine because of COVID-19 exposure. But, because of the inconsistency the pandemic created for learning environments, Roaring Fork School District Superintendent Rob Stein said the district continues to assess the impacts that had on student learning and to figure out ways to keep them on track.

Little Nell to host Culinary Fest in June

The Little Nell announced Friday it will host a Culinary Fest from June 17-20. The four days of food- and wine-centered events run over what has historically served as the kick-off to summer with the annual Food & Wine Classic in Aspen.
